4 Easy Ways to Brainstorm Digital Content Throughout Your Day
for my visual learners:
for those who love words:
Morning: GET UP AND WRITE!
According to Buffer.com, bouts of creative writing might be easier to come by just after waking, as this is the time of day when the prefrontal cortex is most active. A scientific study of brain circuits confirmed that this creative activity is highest during and immediately after sleep, while the analytical parts of the brain (the editing and proofreading parts) become more active as the day goes on.
You heard that right. Set aside 5-15 minutes in the morning to brain dump in a journal. It doesn’t matter what you write, just put your pen to the paper and see what comes out. You may be surprised at the ideas that unfold!
Noon: Ask your social media followers.
According to a 2019 study by SproutSocial, the best times to post on Instagram are Wednesdays at 11am and Fridays between 10am-3pm. In other words, people love a good lunch break scroll.
Ask your followers what they’d like to see you blog about by posting the question on your IG feed or Insta story at lunchtime. The responses will increase your social media engagement and give you organic ideas about what your followers want to see you create.
Evening: Document your creative process.
People love a good story and your creative process is something they want to see. This evening, when you’re elbows deep in creation, take the time to document your process.
What steps do you take to get to your end result? Write it all down and take pictures at every step to begin the process of drafting an engaging blog post. Remember, you’re the expert and people want to learn from you. When your draft is ready, upload blog to your website, insert plenty of pictures, and edit your copy to include short paragraphs to keep your audience’s attention. Congrats—you’ve got yourself a blog post.
Night: Research!
Take 10 minutes out of your nighttime routine to research what blog topics other people in your niche are writing about. Jot down the subjects that stand out to you and think about ways you can write about the same topic in a new and profound way. Leave it at that. When you wake up in the morning, you can use your journaling time to brainstorm ideas about the next blog post you want to write from the research you did the night before.
Still stuck? I’ve got you.
If writing just isn’t your thing, that’s a-okay.
Working with a copywriter (like me!) can help you create digital content that is important to your niche and audience.
Plus, it’ll free up time so you can focus on what you’re stellar at.
